The annual mountain biking calendar will receive a boost in August 2010 when the exciting Oude Molen Mountain Bike Challenge debuts at the Oude Molen Distillery, South Africa's Premier Brandy Destination on Sunday, 29 August 2010.
Riders can choose between a fun 10km ride, a more challenging 35km route or an adrenaline pumping 60km race. According to Hendrico Burger, Oude Molen MTB Challenge Course Designer, the event caters for riders from all spheres of life. “Riders signing up for the 60km challenge can look forward to experiencing the full diversity of Grabouw - from sweeping jeep track to a variety of single track and a number of serious climbs. The 35km riders can expect a similar experience, but without the climbs. This route is ideal for riders wanting to try out a variety of surfaces and trails, while tackling some technical sections. The 10km fun ride is ideal for the entire family and will also be the perfect introduction into the sport of mountain biking as the route is flowing without any major technical sections. All Oude Molen Mountain Bike Challenge riders can look forward to witnessing the most spectacular views over the Elgin Valley,” says Burger.
The Oude Molen MTB Challenge routes will be open to the public after the race however riders need to have in their possession a MTO permit before being allowed to ride these routes. Some of the routes will also be permanently marked.
