Fairy Glen is a tranquil picnic site on the shores of the Palmiet River.
The picnic area & most of the bathing areas are almost entirely sheltered from wind. There are toilets and barbeque facilities and a number of hikes and walks start here. A small entrance fee is charged during the peak summer season.

Jock's Bay beach in Betty's Bay is sheltered from North Westerly winds which makes it an all time favourite for sunny winter days.

Pringle Bay beach might be a bad idea on a windy day, but a short stroll in an easterly direction will provide a protected bay known as the 'nursery'. Head over the little rocks and take a seat on the beach with a semented wall behind your back - you will not feel the South-East wind.
