Holiday Accommodation in the Overstrand

Four villages tucked between sea and mountain. A destination so diferse in assets as to be totally unique: the heart of the fynbos kingdom, a Biosphere Reserve, white sandy beaches, lakes & rivers, mountains, waterfalls & forests...and holiday accomodation to cater to everyone's needs! From exclusive five star hotels in beautiful surrounds, with conference facilities, airport transport and other services, to caravan parks & camping sites with amazing locations & views, backpackers lodges & self-catering cottages. All situated right in the middle of paradise.

There are two Caravan Parks. both located in Kleinmond:

  • The Palmiet Caravan Park boasts a splendid backdrop by the Palmiet mountains and has direct access to the beach and Palmiet River Lagoon. The lagoon offers a number of activites like swimming & white water rafting. Fishing can be enjoyed from the rocks at the mouth of the lagoon or the beach itself. The Kleinmond Coastal Nature Reserve is within easy walking distance from the park and offers a myriad of long and short walks through Cape fynbos. There are 82 caravan and 54 tent sites (34 without electricity) and a disposable septic tank is available for motorhomes.

  • Kleinmond Caravan Park is located on the mountain side of Main road, near the main beach at the eastern side of town. The lagoon and beach can be reached by walking 10-15 minutes through the park and the accross the subway. The lagoon is ideal bathing area, especially for small children(they must never be left to play unsupervised, as there are often sudden unexpected deeper bits). There is also a kid's playground. The lagoon offers great canoeing, there are even little boats for hire at a minimal fee. There are defined coastal walks nearby as well as bowls, golf & tennis. There are 112 caravan & 12 tent sites and electricity is available at all the sites.

Hotels:

There are currently two hotels in the area:

  • The Western Cape Hotel and Spa is located on the Arabella Country Estate outside Kleinmond. This exclusive 5 star hotel boasts a grand championship golf course and is situated next to Southern Africa's largest natural lagoon, the Bot River Vlei. The ideal stay over for business travellers, leisure travellers, and conference groups, this venue offers a luxurious lifestyle experience.

  • The Hangklip Hotel is located on the Hangklip Road between Pringle Bay and Betty's Bay (access from Pringle Bay). A rustic & relaxed atmosphere with a bushbar and pub. The hotel has often been host to various outdoor events & music festivals in the past.

Self-catering accommodation:

There are a lot of posibilites available to holidaymakers who prefer to stay in a private holiday home and cater to their own needs. Homes are available in RooiEls, Pringle Bay, Betty's Bay and Kleinmond and can often be rented direct from the owner. There is also a number of reputable agencies operating in the area.
